Citizens Academy

The Citizens Police Academy is a free program designed to familiarize citizens with the operations of the Tipp City Police Department and build relationships between Tipp City residents and their police department. This includes classes on patrol procedures, criminal law, narcotics, search and seizure, tactical operations, investigations, emergency vehicle operations, use of force issues, and police canine demonstration. 

This program offers a unique opportunity for community members to interact and get first-hand knowledge from officers who serve their community. The purpose of this program is build a better understanding between citizens and the police, and to make new friends along the way. 

This program is designed to educate what it’s like to be a police officer in Tipp City but is NOT designed to certify citizens as police officers. 

What are the Participating Guidelines?

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Must pass criminal history background check 
  • Must attend 80% of the sessions 
  • Must complete and submit written application form 
  • Preference will be given to City of Tipp City residents; however, residency is not required 
  • Class size limited to 14 participants

Applications can be picked up at the Police Department, 260 S. Garber Dr. Tipp City, OH 45371 or printed off and then returned filled out to the police department.
