Civil Service Commission
The Civil Service Commission is responsible for all of the initial appointments and promotions in the Police and Fire Departments, as well as the resolution of appeals from employees in those departments.
The Commission meets as needed to prescribe, amend, and enforce rules for Civil Service positions for the City; such as examinations, resignations, appointments, promotions, removals, transfers, lay-offs, suspensions, reductions, reinstatements and for standardizing positions. Members are appointed by City Council for six year terms expiring April 5th.
